Join One Brick as we team up with Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) to support Bay Area educators with hands-on classroom materials! RAFT is known as the MacGyver of nonprofits - they turn everyday donations into engaging STEAM kits that inspire learning and creativity in local classrooms.

What we'll be doing:

We’ll help RAFT sort donations, prep materials, and assemble fun and educational STEAM Project Kits. Tasks may include sorting, counting, quality checking, and packaging supplies for their educator store.

Why it matters?

You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how RAFT supports teachers—and how your time directly helps students and schools get the tools they need, all while keeping costs down.

What you should know:

  • Dress in layers; some work will take place in a warehouse
  • Closed-toe shoes required
  • No food or drink in work areas (meeting room is available for breaks)
  • Fun, friendly, and social volunteer atmosphere!
Come ready to lend a hand, meet awesome people, and make a difference in education - MacGyver style.

Spots are limited—sign up now!

Where to Meet:

Resource Area For Teaching:

Resource Area for Teaching provides creative ideas, affordable project materials, pre-packaged activity kits, one-on-one mentoring, and professional development for educators who believe in the power of hands on teaching. RAFT is able to collect a wide range of surplus materials from over 1,000 local businesses. These items fill an entire warehouse and they range from computers, art supplies, science glassware, math counters, paper products, and so much more! By transforming the learning environment, RAFT helps close the achievement gap and helps students apply their knowledge to a real world environment. We serve educators who teach in the classroom, in afterschool programs, camp programs, scouting, and homeschooling.
