Event Description:

Every year, thousands of volunteers pass through the doors of the Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory warehouse to roll up their sleeves and help disadvantaged young children in Massachusetts. Together, youth and adults inspect, sort, and package all new and like-new donations into customized kid packs.

What we'll be doing:

Volunteer duties may include but not limited to sorting, quality checking to packaging to ultimately distrubuting packages to the children Cradles to Crayons serves.

What you should know:

Parking is all free, no permit, on street. Volunteers are asked to wear comfortable clothing.

Green Line B train @ Allston Street- 15 minute walk to the building.

#66 bus from Dudley Station- 10 minute walk from the building.

#86 bus from Reservoir/Cleveland Circle - Sullivan Station or Harvard Square- 5 minute walk from the building.

Where to Meet:

You are asked to arrive at 12:45 at the Giving Factory at 155 North Beacon Street. Upon arrival, you should search for the One Brick Event Manager and the purple table. If you are running a few minutes late, there will be a staff person to point you in the right direction. If not, please find your name tag on the purple table and head inside the two doors into "The Giving Factory". Anybody in purple will help you find where your group is. Please make sure you locate the One Brick Event manager upon arrival.

Cradles to Crayons:

Cradles to Crayons was founded in 2002, with the mission of providing to children ages 0 to 12 some of the most important basics of lifefree of charge. These basics include clothing, school supplies, toys, and much more. In other words, we provide all the physical goods that children need to be safe, protected from the elements, and ready to learn. And by supplying them with high-quality used or new goods, we make children feel valued. We partner with social-service organizations to connect communities that have surplus resourcesnew or used items in good conditionwith communities that desperately need access to those resources. When you donate to Cradles to Crayons, you can be absolutely sure that your donation will go to a deserving local child, for whom the donation was specifically requested. We make it simple for children, families, and corporations to participate: whether by organizing a clothing collection, hosting a fundraiser, or working in one of our warehouses. And the more people and institutions that volunteer their time, treasures, and talents, the more children in local communities we can help. We provide unique, hands-on opportunities for people to help other people. This is one of the most powerful aspects of the Cradles to Crayons experience.
