Event Description:
Spread holiday cheer in the historic heart of the Chinatown-International District! Our annual C-ID Santa event gives families the opportunity to make memories in the neighborhood. Volunteers will greet families and help them queue up for photo time with Santa. Volunteers can encourage guests to browse our Marketplace or partake in a family friendly card craft for their photos while waiting.
What we'll be doing:
Volunteers will be stationed in the Welcome Hall inside the museum near our registration table. Volunteers help registered and walk-up guests with the check-in process. They will help families prepare for their photo timeslot as well as offer directions to different parts of the museum. Depending on needs, volunteers may also be assigned to help with a holiday craft or donation bin collection.
What you should know:
Volunteers will be provided with a volunteer lounge with food and drinks. The Wing Luke Museum also provides volunteer benefits throughout the year, including reciprocal admission during National Volunteer Week! :)
Physical Requirements: Volunteers should be able to stand, walk, and perform light lifting, reaching, and bending for this shift. Accommodation may be possible for those who need to remain seated during this volunteer shift.
Getting Here: Street parking and paid lot parking are nearby (including the large InterIm parking lot under I-5). Public transportation is recommended, as the museum is a short walk from the International District/Chinatown Link Light Rail Station.
Entrance: Volunteers will enter through the museum's main entrance on S King St, in between 8th Ave S and Canton Alley. Please let the folks at the front desk know that you're a One Brick volunteer!
Personal Items: While the museum does have areas to store coats & small personal items, plan to leave larger valuables at home or keep valuables with you as the main volunteer lounge will not always be guarded.
What to Wear: Closed toe shoes and dressing in layers is recommended so that you can remain comfortable throughout the day.
Inclement Weather Policy: In the case of inclement weather, volunteers will be notified via email of event cancellation or volunteer shift modifications.
Family Friendly Volunteer Info: Let us know in the RSVP notes if you are bringing any volunteers under 18, including their full name and age.
Where to Meet:
Volunteers should plan to arrive at the museum by 10:30 am. Enter the building through the main entrance on S King St, in between 8th Ave S and Canton Alley. Let the front desk staff know that you are volunteering with One Brick. They will direct you to our volunteer lounge for the day, where you can grab snacks and put down your belongings. Look for our One Brick name tags!
