One Brick will help Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) sort community and corporate donations, assemble project packets for classroom use, and get a look at all the cool stuff they do with donations. RAFT is the MacGyver of non-profits!

We will see how RAFT is helping our teachers and how our work will directly impact the teaching community inexpensively.

What we'll be doing:

Prepare and pack various STEAM Project Kits for students.  Sorting, counting, quality checking. Process materials for their store.

What you should know:

Nice social atmosphere. At various times we are asked to work in their warehouse, dress in layers. No food or water allowed in the working area.  There is a meeting room that we are allowed to bring drinks and food.

REQUIRED BY RAFT - All volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as well as show proof of vaccination.

Closed toe shoes in case of working in the warehouse area.

Where to Meet:

Inside RAFT at their new location: 1355 Ridder Park Dr, San Jose, CA 95131

Please log into the computers in their lobby.

Resource Area For Teaching:

Resource Area for Teaching provides creative ideas, affordable project materials, pre-packaged activity kits, one-on-one mentoring, and professional development for educators who believe in the power of hands on teaching. RAFT is able to collect a wide range of surplus materials from over 1,000 local businesses. These items fill an entire warehouse and they range from computers, art supplies, science glassware, math counters, paper products, and so much more! By transforming the learning environment, RAFT helps close the achievement gap and helps students apply their knowledge to a real world environment. We serve educators who teach in the classroom, in afterschool programs, camp programs, scouting, and homeschooling.
