Event Description:
Every fall holiday season since 1981, Uhuru Pies has been a tradition in the Bay Area that raises funds for the programs of the Uhuru Movement. Join the campaign to sell over 2,000 pies in the Bay Area this Thanksgiving and December holiday season.
What we'll be doing:
We will preparing packaging for Christmas pies, which may include making pie dough, cooking apples for pie filling, mixing berries and other nuts and fruits for holiday pies. Specific work may vary.
What you should know:
Clothing:
Please wear comfortable clothing that is okay to work in. You may get food on your clothes. Aprons will be provided. Please wear closed toe shoes with grippy soles (ABSOLUTELY NO flip flops or sandals). A cap or visor is recommended. Extra caps/visors will be provided if you do not have one. Red or black preferred. Bring hair ties, clips or other ways to make sure all your hair is tied up and put back, without falling out. This is important for food service work! Water will be provided to all volunteers.
Parking:
Please look for parking at the lot directly across the street from the The Prep Station
Where to Meet:
Knock on the red door or come around to the loading dock in the back and knock. UHURU Pies has the rear portion of the building.
