Event Description:
WACAP Kids Day is a picnic with sandwiches, entertainment and networking for families with newly adopted children (from foster care and/or international orphanages) with other families and WACAP staff.
What we'll be doing:
We'll be helping WACAP set up the event, helping kids with activities at fun activity stations (such as Spin Art, Bubble Machine, Stick-On Tattoo, Play-Doh, Hula Hoop and Inflatable Obstacle Course), and cleaning up the event.
What you should know:
Lunch, water and lemonade will be provided for volunteers. Please wear your nametag at all times and please never be alone with a child for any reason (volunteers must be supervised by parents or staff). On-site training will be provided.
Where to Meet:
Orientation to the organization and event will be provided by Lisa Yeager from WACAP at Shelter #2 from 10:00 - 10:10 am.
World Association for Children and Parents (WACAP):
WACAP (pronounced WAY-cap) provides life-changing aid and adoption services to orphans and other children who need families. WACAP is one of the largest and most experienced international nonprofit adoption and child assistance agencies in the United States, placing over 10,000 children with loving adoptive parents and provided food, medical care and education to more than 200,000 children worldwide since 1976. WACAP's vision is "A Family for Every Child", believing that all children are born with the right to a loving family and that each child deserves adequate nutrition, medical care and education. Adoption is a life-changing opportunity for children who cannot remain with their birth families. For every child adopted, however, many more are left behind. To benefit these children, our mission goes beyond traditional adoption services to include child assistance and sponsorship. WACAP's work is supported solely by funding from adoption fees, donations, grants and corporate support. With this support, we are able to collaborate with outside agencies and governments to meet the needs of children worldwide.
