Event Description:
Alta Plaza is a hilltop park in the Pacific Heights district that offers breathtaking (ooh-ah) views of the city. This now picturesque and beautifully landscaped park was once a rugged rock quarry covered by grasses. It was homesteaded and grazed by cattle and pigs in the late 1800's. Today it is known for its terraced hillsides and lovely stairways. You can see views of it in several films and commercials, such as Warner Brothers' "What's Up, Doc?" Alta Plaza is well loved and used by its neighbors, schools and visitors to the city. General park maintenance is an ongoing process that is necessary to keep Alta Plaza beautiful and safe for its users. We will be weeding the hedges and around the children's playground. This should be a fulfilling activity for anyone who likes to play outdoors and have their hands in the earth. For those that don't, their are gloves and tools!San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department:
