Event Description:

ILLUMINATE gathers our community for a single purpose: Comfort for children in treatment today, and breakthroughs for the children who come after them. Every seat, every bid, and every raised paddle funds hope boxes, direct family support, and pediatric cancer research.

What we'll be doing:

Volunteer opportunities at ILLUMINATE include:

** Reception & Guest Experience: Welcoming and checking in guests, distributing bid cards and table assignments, assisting with guest questions, collecting credit card information for auction purchases, and supporting auction checkout.
** Silent & Live Auctions: Assisting with runners, bid spotters, item presentation, winner confirmation, and other auction-day needs.
** Beer & Wine Service: Pouring and serving beer and wine to guests.
** General Event Support: Helping with setup, transitions, guest flow, and other needs that arise throughout the evening.

Kyra's Hope Foundation will hold a training and rehearsal onsite the evening of Friday, November 14th, and would especially appreciate having gala- or event-experienced volunteers attend if it works for your schedule. We're looking to those volunteers to help provide leadership and support to the broader volunteer team on the day of the gala. This is Kyra's Hope Foundation's first annual gala, and we’re incredibly excited to bring it to life—but we’ll need plenty of hands to help with the heavy lifting! We’re so grateful for your consideration and for any time you’re able to give in support of Kyra’s Hope and childhood cancer research.

What you should know:

Parking and Entrance: There is free lot parking next to the Mercer Island Community & Event Center off of SE 24th St.

Food and Drink: Snacks & soft drinks will be available for volunteers in the volunteer area (volunteers can also store bags & coats here, but please keep any valuables with you). Volunteer leads in your section will rotate people out for breaks during the event.

What to Wear: Please wear gala-appropriate clothing & comfortable shoes since most of the roles require standing and/or walking throughout the venue.
