Event Description:

The International Examiner’s annual fundraiser dinner, the Community Voice Awards (CVA), highlights local change-making leaders and organizations. Rooted in expansiveness and resilience despite shifting challenges within the journalistic space, the IE celebrates this year’s CVA with a theme of ROOTED & RISING.

As the only only nonprofit ANHPIA (Asian Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander American) media source in the Pacific Northwest, the IE grows every year with more coverage of timely issues that are important to the community, despite being in a city where many local publications have shuttered.

This year’s CVAs features an intimate experience with a delicious 9-course Chinese banquet meal, an awards ceremony, and an evening in conversation with other like-minded supporters of local journalism.

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers will be assisting with checking in guests, recording auction bids, Raise the Paddle reconciliation, and check out.

What you should know:

Attire for volunteers is business casual but comfortable! Volunteers will receive the IE's never-ending gratitude, and a post-event drink at Fort on the CVA's Event Planner. There will also be a 9-course dinner table provided for volunteers (a break to eat dinner will be between guest check-in and bid recording).

Volunteers should be comfortable using a laptop (guest registration uses the Auctria platform). Chinese language skills aren't necessary for this volunteer role, but would be a big bonus in communicating with Diamond Bay staff.

Where to Meet:

Meet inside Diamond Bay at the registration table.

International Examiner:

Established in 1974, the International Examiner (IE) is the oldest and largest nonprofit, pan-Asian Pacific American publication in the Northwest. Named after the historic and thriving multi-ethnic Chinatown International District (CID) of Seattle, the IE aspires to be a credible catalyst for building an inspiring, connected, well-respected, and socially conscious Asian Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander American (ANHPIA) community.
