Event Description:

The mission of At The Crossroads is to reach out to homeless youth and young adults at their point of need, and work with them to build healthy and fulfilling lives. Our innovative model focuses on young people who do not access traditional services and are disconnected from any type of consistent support. We work with young people who others have given up on, who would not get help without us. We remove common barriers to service by bringing our counselors onto the streets, and shaping our support services around the needs of each individual client. Our goal is to help our clients build outstanding lives, not just lives of subsistence.

We accomplish our mission through a combination of nighttime street outreach and one-on-one counseling, and collaboration with other service providers. We walk the streets of the Mission and Downtown San Francisco at nighttime, bringing help to our clients, rather than making them come to us. We help our clients with anything and everything they need, providing unconditional support for as long as they need to build the lives they want. We partner and advocate to make sure that there is an accessible, culturally competent continuum of care that will provide our clients with the opportunities to realize their dreams.

We are looking for people to support our counselors during Office Hours and help them prep supplies that they take on Street Outreach. We also need help with other smaller organizational tasks around the office like organizing our Clothing Room, restocking the Prep Room, and making sure our storage rooms are well maintained.

What we'll be doing:

One Brick will help At The Crossroads prepare street outreach supplies that will be handed out to young homeless people in the Mission and Downtown areas of San Francisco. This will include putting together packets of assorted candy, sorting travel hygiene items, cleaning donated bags and backpacks and/or organizing other supplies.

What you should know:

There are currently no COVID related protocols. The wearing of face masks is optional.

All of our staff members are fully vaccinated and boosted.

Where to Meet:

We'll meet just inside the front entrance.  Please look for the One Brick Event Manager wearing a bright orange lanyard and carrying a One Brick clipboard to get signed in.

At The Crossroads reaches out to homeless youth and young adults at their points of need and works with them to build healthy and fulfilling lives. The organization focuses on this underserved population by providing a combination of nighttime street outreach and one-on-one counseling. It aims to build healthy, trusting relationships with its clients, through which the clients can create goals and develop plans to accomplish them.

At The Crossroads also works with other agencies to ensure that there is an accessible, comfortable continuum of support that will provide their clients with realistic opportunities to achieve these goals.
