Event Description:

Join the Pike Place Market Foundation to support the strength of our historic Market, celebrate its 117-year history and feel inspired by “the soul of Seattle” – with the people who bring it to life and call it home! On Friday, August 16th, the Pike Place Market Foundation is bringing together 100 of the region’s best restaurants, wineries, breweries and distilleries for Sunset Supper at Pike Place Market. With a backdrop of the sunset overlooking the Puget Sound, enjoy local food, and drinks and entertainment in the heart of Seattle’s historic Market.

What we'll be doing:

The Pike Place Market Foundation relies on volunteers at Sunset Supper. Volunteer needs may change during the event, so please prepare to be flexible and be able to switch to another job if needed. If you have physical limitations, please include in the Message section of your RSVP.

Under the direction of your team leader, volunteer duties may include:

Area Monitors: In this role, volunteers will monitor the MarketFront and ensure that guests with a specific wristband, Market Foundation staff, and volunteers are allowed into the area during the event. Volunteers for this position should be able to stand for the duration of their shift, and may be asked to replenish supplies (which may involve lifting). An event map is available for review, but volunteers will receive training on their specific area after checking in.

What you should know:

Volunteers will receive a break to enjoy the food during the event. The Market Foundation will provide a volunteer t-shirt when you check in (please include your unisex t-shirt size in your RSVP). These shirts are new for 2024, and is yours to keep after the event. :)

Many Sunset Supper volunteer jobs require physical activity such as bending, lifting, carrying, walking and/or standing on concrete or cobblestone streets. Volunteers who cannot be on their feet throughout an entire shift and/or cannot lift a minimum of 25 lbs. should include this information in the message section of your RSVP. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are appropriate for the weather.

Set up and management of Sunset Supper is fast-paced, complex, and can be stressful. We're looking for adaptable volunteers with can-do attitudes, who will be unfailingly pleasant with the public, vendors, event guests, our VIPs, and other volunteers.

Because alcohol is served at Sunset Supper, you must be at least 21 years old to volunteer for any job that takes place during the event hours. Please bring your ID!

Also, let us know if you need parking validation in the Public Market Parking Garage (1531 Western Ave) or the MarketFront Parking Garage (1901 Western Ave) in your RSVP. Thanks!

Where to Meet:

Volunteers should check in with your One Brick Event Manager at the Volunteer Tent, located near the intersection of Pine St and Pike Place before 5:30 pm (ideally by 5:15 pm). You'll need to sign in, receive your name tag & a volunteer t-shirt to wear during your shift, and receive training from your team leader(s) before our shift begins. Please remember to check out at the Volunteer Tent after our shift is over (and change out of your volunteer t-shirt before joining the event as a guest).
