Event Description:
The recent COVID-19 pandemic brought on a huge need for food security in communities everywhere. In response the SF-Marin Food Bank increased the number of outdoor pop-up food pantries throughout the City and County of San Francisco. The Saturday Oracle Park Pantry (Parking Lot A on non-game days or Lapu Lapu Street on days when the San Francisco Giants have a day game) has remained a popular site as you'll often find it filled to capacity on the SF-Marin Food Bank's online scheduling system.
Good intentions are great if you follow through on them, but this site also has a greater need for extra volunteers as those who sign up on the official site are very often no-shows.
If the site allows, please create an individual volunteer account for yourself and sign in on the link for this opportunity:: https://volunteering.sfmfoodbank.org/need/detail/?need_id=631411
If the link is full please consider signing up on the One Brick site and showing up on site anyway. The SF-Marin Food Bank staff appreciate your help regardless of whether your volunteer registration is official or not.
Thank you for helping the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank and our response to COVID-19.
Volunteers will be assigned to manage the line, assist with check in, pre-pack groceries for distribution and/or staff a specific distribution table item. Please read these guidelines for serving at a Pop-Up Pantry, including the highlights below:
Please bring a mask/facial covering (optional).
We will be outside, please wear comfortable clothing (we recommend layers, a hat, and sunscreen due to the ever-changing weather conditions).
Be aware there will not be a place to store personal belongings, please do not bring valuables.
Please bring a secure lidded water bottle and a snack.
Volunteers must wear gloves at all times (provided by the food bank).
We ask that any volunteer who does not feel well refrain from attending their volunteer shift.

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank:
The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank's mission is to end hunger in San Francisco. It works toward that goal by distributing food and advocating for improvement in government food programs and policies.
A nationwide network of food suppliers allows the food bank to turn each dollar donated into $9 of nonperishable groceries, fresh produce, bread and meat for the community.
An affiliate of Feeding America (formerly America's Second Harvest) - the nation's food bank network - the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank supplies food to more than 600 community food programs ranging from senior centers and after-school programs to soup kitchens. The food bank reaches tens of thousands of individuals each month. This year, the food bank will distribute 33 million pounds of food, which is enough to provide more than 70,000 meals to hungry San Franciscans every day.
