Event Description:
Kapwa Gardens is a new outdoor space currently under construction in the SOMA on Mission Street between 5th and 6th Streets. The space is being designed to help the neighborhood recover from the devastating mental, physical and economic effects of COVID-19.
Kapwa Gardens is scheduled to open on the weekend of April 9th, 10th and 11th hosting 3 receptions including a volunteer thank you gathering on Sunday. Entry into all events are by RSVP only with a specific time frame to allow for social distancing. A maximum capacity for the site has been mandated by the City and County of San Francisco and will be carefully monitored.
ONCE YOU HAVE CONTACTED KAPWA GARDENS and have been assigned to this volunteer shift on Saturday, April 10th or Sunday, April 11th, if you would like One Brick event hours credited to your profile please email me at wilhelm@onebrick.org with the day and shift you have been assigned to.
A face mask must be worn at all times. A dress code (if any) will be forwarded to you by the event contact. Your temperature will be taken at the entrance and you must agree to fill out and submit information to Kapwa Gardens' contact tracing app at https://www.kapwagardens.com/tracker prior to entering the site.

What we'll be doing:
Volunteer tasks for this shift will include event and venue set up, greeting guests, helping to take temperatures of guests using no-contact thermometer and helping with contact tracing app
What you should know:
Face masks / face shields are required. Your temperature will be taken at the entrance and filling out and submitting to the contact tracing app is required. Dress code TBD.

Kapwa Gardens (www.kapwagardens.com) is a healing space in SOMA Pilipinas. As a Kultivate Labs* project, the space functions with the goal to enrich San Francisco's cultural diversity by building community and supporting the arts & local businesses. Kapwa Gardens is designed and named after the Filipino spiritual idea of "Kapwa"—a recognition of a shared identity, an inner self, shared with others.
The gardens feature custom living walls, a citrus grove of calamansi trees, hand-crafted wood planters, and beautiful murals painted by local Bay Area artists. Kapwa Gardens also has a flexible outdoor event space with the capability to host workout classes, live performances, special events, and more!
