Event Description:
Help clean up the Leona Canyon watershed
What we'll be doing:
Volunteers will be organized into teams and work along side Baywood Learning center students to tackle the various projects such as Litter removal, Native plant planting and trail maintenance. The long term goal is to bring back the native fish to the creek
What you should know:
Volunteers should wear comfortable and protective work clothes with long sleeves and long pants, hiking boots or shoes with good treads as they may encounter areas with poison oak. If you have work gloves and clippers please bring them. Bring water and sunscreen as we will be working outside.
Baywood Learning Center is hosting this event, they will be providing a vegetarian lunch (12 -1). You can bringing an extra snack and water is recommended. (To avoid the yellow jacket pests its best to not have meat on site.)
Where to Meet:
We will meet at 4444 Mountain Blvd, next to Leona Lodge in Oakland CA. There will be free parking on the street and in the overspill parking lot for the Lodge, which is just across the street. However, the site itself does not accommodate wheel chair access because the footpaths are undeveloped narrow dirt paths. More specific instructions will be provided upon request.
