Event Description:
CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER
The COVID-19 pandemic brought on a huge need for food security in communities everywhere. In response the SF-Marin Food Bank increased the number of outdoor pop-up food pantries throughout the City and County of San Francisco. The Saturday Minnie & Lovie is a popular outdoor pantry in part because there is ample parking nearby. Originally held at the Minnie and Lovie Rec Center on Broad Street, this outdoor pantry moved to City College of San Francisco (CCSF) in February 2023 and has been at this location since.
With the permanent closure of the outdoor food pantry at Oracle Park's Lot A in December 2023 this site is the remaining high volume site scheduled for Saturdays. One Brick will be listing this pantry on our calendar whenever a member of the San Francisco Chapter Team is present.
If the site allows, please create an individual volunteer account for yourself and sign in on the link for this opportunity: https://volunteering.sfmfoodbank.org/need/detail/?need_id=778614

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank:
The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank's mission is to end hunger in San Francisco. It works toward that goal by distributing food and advocating for improvement in government food programs and policies.
A nationwide network of food suppliers allows the food bank to turn each dollar donated into $9 of nonperishable groceries, fresh produce, bread and meat for the community.
An affiliate of Feeding America (formerly America's Second Harvest) - the nation's food bank network - the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank supplies food to more than 600 community food programs ranging from senior centers and after-school programs to soup kitchens. The food bank reaches tens of thousands of individuals each month. This year, the food bank will distribute 33 million pounds of food, which is enough to provide more than 70,000 meals to hungry San Franciscans every day.
