Event Description:

Starting on Monday November 16th, we are moving some of our programming, Pantry@Home, to a new warehouse!

Back in March, when San Francisco went into shelter in place, thousands of seniors lost access to weekly healthy groceries. The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank responded by launching Pantry@Home, our full-scale home delivery program with the goal of serving 12,000 seniors each week. We constructed a tent in the parking lot at 900 Pennsylvania and recruited volunteers to pack and deliver bags to meet that need.

At the time, we did not realize how long this community would need that level of support, and now nine months later, we are still making approximately 1,100 deliveries each day.

As our Pantry@Home program is here to stay, we knew we needed to find a new location for this program. So, we are excited to announce that we have a new warehouse 5 minutes away for Pantry@Home to continue.

Next Monday, November 16th, all Pantry@Home bag packing and deliveries will be made out of this new warehouse located at the corner of Illinois Street and Marin Street.

Please note that this opportunity is NOT an officially sanctioned One Brick volunteer event You will be volunteering at your own risk.

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank:

The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank's mission is to end hunger in San Francisco. It works toward that goal by distributing food and advocating for improvement in government food programs and policies.

A nationwide network of food suppliers allows the food bank to turn each dollar donated into $9 of nonperishable groceries, fresh produce, bread and meat for the community.

An affiliate of Feeding America (formerly America's Second Harvest) - the nation's food bank network - the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank supplies food to more than 600 community food programs ranging from senior centers and after-school programs to soup kitchens. The food bank reaches tens of thousands of individuals each month. This year, the food bank will distribute 33 million pounds of food, which is enough to provide more than 70,000 meals to hungry San Franciscans every day.
