Event Description:

For Halloween, One Brick is going to extend the Staycation series. Let's meet at the recently inaugurated Outer Sunset Farmer's Market starting at 10:00 am. Launched earlier this summer, the market is a community cooperative of likeminded neighbors that runs along 37th Avenue for a one block stretch between Ortega and Pacheco Streets from 9am to 3 pm every Sunday. Afterwards we'll go over to the Beachside Taraval Open Air Market, a temporary block closure of Taraval between 46th/47th Avenues, check out the festivities there and perhaps take in an optional lunch before our stroll around Lake Merced.

What we'll be doing:

We'll meet somewhere at the farmer's market starting at 10:00 am, stay for at least an hour and then head west to the Great Highway and walk along the dunes for a bit. We'll continue south towards the SF Zoo, walk around Lake Merced and end back up either at Stonestown Galleria or Lakeshore Plaza.

What you should know:

Dress in layers as it might be foggy and overcast in the morning. Bring sunscreen, water, hand sanitizer, a face covering, lunch or money to buy a lunch at either one of the Sunset Mercantile sites.

Parking is fairly ample in the surrounding blocks and along the west side of Sunset Blvd. For public transportation, the nearest MTA lines are 29-Sunset, stops directly on the corner of Sunset Blvd. and Ortega St. The N-Judah is a 4 block walk south to the site and conversely, the L-Taraval is 4 blocks walk north. Both have stops near the intersection of Sunset Blvd. on their respective streets.

Where to Meet:

10:00 am at the Outer Sunset Farmer's Market corner of 37th Av and Ortega St.

One Brick - San Francisco/East Bay:

One Brick is a 501(c)3 nonprofit volunteer organization that brings volunteers together to support other local nonprofit organizations. One Brick has adopted an innovative twist to the volunteer experience: we create a friendly and social atmosphere around volunteering. After each volunteer event - which typically lasts only 3 to 4 hours - we invite volunteers to gather at a local restaurant or cafe where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting. Through our volunteer projects, we provide nonprofits with the much-needed labor to carry out their visions. At the same time we foster an environment in which our volunteers can meet new people, both socially and professionally.
