Event Description:

From poverty to homelessness, FareStart tackles some of our society's biggest challenges. Help us transform the world, one person, one job, one community at a time.

FareStart's biggest fundraiser of the year - the 27th Annual "Great Food, Better Lives" Gala Auction - is one of Seattle's premier events combining fine cuisine and wine, a festive atmosphere, and compassion for an important mission. This lively and entertaining evening consists of a silent auction reception, live and wine auctions, an elegant multi-course gourmet dinner, live entertainment, and more! This event raises funds to support FareStart's job training programs for homeless and disadvantaged individuals.

What we'll be doing:

Silent Auction Volunteers will help guests with mobile Silent Auction bidding, answer questions about Silent Auction packages, and help pack Silent Auction items towards the end. There will be FareStart Leads (Jen & Anne) and a Greater Giving staff member available for additional assistance.

What you should know:

Volunteers should wear evening attire and comfortable shoes (most women wear skirts, dresses, or pantsuits, and most men wear coats and ties). There will be food & beverages available for volunteers throughout the evening in the Volunteer Lounge (Room 410), but plan to eat dinner on your break (between 5:30 - 7:30 pm) or after our shift ends. Street parking and paid garage parking is available in the surrounding area.

Training & review will start promptly at 4:00 pm in Silent Auction Room (SkyBridge), so feel free to arrive earlier if you need more time to get settled. Please review the Silent Auction Volunteer document, the Volunteer Manual, and the recorded volunteer training webinar before you arrive!

Where to Meet:

Check in at the Volunteer Lounge in Room 410 (follow signage to the 4th floor of the Washington State Convention Center). Please keep your personal items and valuables to a minimum. Personal belongings can be kept in the Volunteer Lounge, but keep in mind that FareStart isn't responsible for lost or stolen items.

FareStart:

FareStart provides a community that transforms lives by empowering homeless and disadvantaged men, women, and families to achieve self-sufficiency through life skills, job training and employment in the food service industry.
