Event Description:
Each year Emergency Food Network’s Mother Earth Farm grows close to 100,000 pounds of fresh fruit, vegetables, and honey for local food banks and meal sites. It would not be possible for us to provide this fresh food option to our neighbors in need without the help from volunteers at our 8-acre organic farm.
What we'll be doing:
Volunteers will assist with soil cultivation, seeding, planting, weeding, irrigation, and harvesting.
What you should know:
Volunteers will need to fill out a liability waiver form either online (https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=efoodnet&id=21) or on paper upon arrival at the farm. Come prepared to be outdoors, willing to get dirty, and ready to work together as a team to grow food!
No experience is needed to volunteer at the farm. EFN staff will be on site to provide you with training and supervision. Gloves and tools will be provided. Volunteers are welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy the picnic area!
The Mother Earth Farm Volunteer Event Details handout contains detailed information for volunteers, including a detailed parking map of the farm.
Where to Meet:
There will be a small sign for Mother Earth Farm at the entrance to 102nd Street. The farm is at the end of the gravel road on the right.
