Event Description:

Fundraiser for the USS Hornet Museum. There will be live music and entertainment all day and fireworks viewing in the evening. The USS Hornet is one of the most decorated ships in naval history (it participated in WWII and the Apollo 11 & 12 manned moon missions). Now serving as a world-class sea, air, and space museum, the USS Hornet is permanently docked at the former Naval Air Station in Alameda. Visitors can explore many decks of the historic aircraft carrier, including flight deck, captains bridge, sick bay, pilot ready rooms, and much, much more. Exhibits include the West Coast's largest Apollo Moon Mission display and aircraft ranging from WWII vintage to the modern era.

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers will primarily help out at the Volunteer Check-In station, with Will Call, as Ticket Takers, as Roamers, and assist with the  Bounce House (s).

What you should know:

Please arrive 20 minutes ahead of starting time for briefing. Dress comfortably & in layers. Bring sunscreen and water. A hat can also be helpful. Volunteers will be provided with a “chit” for food, which means they will be free to eat at their leisure, along with a bottle of water, when checking in. There will be a Vegan offering(s). Volunteers may bring a guest (Free Admission only).

The volunteers are free to stay and enjoy the fireworks display (weather permitting), probably starting around 9:30PM.

Where to Meet:

Volunteers board at the 2nd gangway. Follow signs to Security. The assembly point will be to the right by the entrance to the Hangar Deck from the boarding brow. Like last year, we will have t-shirts and a meal for participants. Participants may bring one guest (free admission, meal excluded).

Aircraft Carrier Hornet Foundation:

Aircraft Carrier Hornet Foundation preserves and honors the legacy of the USS Hornet, a national historic landmark, and its role in naval aviation, the defense of our country, the Apollo Program and exploration of space. The USS Hornet Museum connects the greatest generation of Americans with future generations, educating and inspiring them to meet their challenges.
