Event Description:

Join City Year Chicago and the White Sox Volunteer Corps on Saturday, May 7th as we come together for a powerful day of service at Sawyer Elementary School in the Gage Park Community. We’ll join the White Sox sponsored City Year Team and student leaders from Tilden Career Community Academy High School to transform the youth center through physical service projects inside and out!

*Project Tasks

Painting – gym, hallway and stairwell murals, college themed banners, and murals on outdoor spaces

Construction – picnic tables and garden beds for outdoor areas

Landscaping – restoration of current garden boxes

*Lunch will be provided. Volunteers will get t-shirts and ticket vouchers.

City Year Chicago:

City Year is an education focused, nonprofit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service to keep students in school and on track to graduation. The City Year Chicago corps consists of 200 members who dedicate 10 months of their life to community service full time serving children and youth in Chicagos public schools.
