Event Description:

Take Steps for Crohn's and Colitis is a family friendly community walk dedicated to raising mission critical funds and awareness for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). In the past 6 years, we have raised almost $40 million in the search for cures for these debilitating digestive diseases. The Metro Detroit Take Steps is more than just a fundraiser, it's about creating awareness of IBD. This walk is also seen as a wonderful support group amongst our family and friends.

Your donation will help support local patient programs, as well as important research projects. In addition to donating, you can join us at the event as a member of our team. There will be food, music and family activities. The more money we raise, the closer we will be to making life more manageable for patients who live with these diseases every day.

Please join our team or donate to our efforts to support CCFA in finding cures!

What we'll be doing:

This year, our team will be walking in the Take Steps for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). Take Steps is CCFA's national walk and celebration and the nation's largest event dedicated to finding cures for inflammatory bowel diseases.

We will enjoy a casual 2-3 mile stroll and raise money for crucial research, bringing us closer to a future free from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Over 1.4 million American adults and children are affected by these digestive diseases. While many suffer in silence, Take Steps brings together this community in a fun, energetic and supportive atmosphere.

What you should know:

Dress to be comfortable outside and bring water to keep yourself hydrated!

Where to Meet:

We will meet at Meininger Park in downtown Royal Oak at the registration table.

Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) Mic:

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis. It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D. Since our founding over four decades ago, CCFA has remained at the forefront of research in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Today, we fund cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurture investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finance underdeveloped areas of research. In addition, our educational workshops and programs, along with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field. We are very proud that the National Institutes of Health has commended us for "uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research."
