Event Description:
- This inspiring fundraising event unites families, friends and communities in the fight against Parkinson’s. Held across the country, it is the first grassroots campaign that spotlights the disease on a national level and gives you the chance to speak out in your own community. This celebration of movement will feature a family friendly walk course, a kids area, a caregivers relaxation tent and a special Movement Pavilion featuring yoga, dance, pilates, etc. all proven to help manage the symptoms of PD.
- In 2015, through monies raised by Moving Day® DC, NPF was able to invest more than $64,000 locally to provide critical support, education, and services for the local community to help people living with Parkinson’s improve their quality of life.
What we'll be doing:
Volunteers will work to ensure that each activity has chairs and proper equipment set up, help keep activities on track in the Movement Pavilion (yoga, dance, Tai Chi, Pilates), announce to participants when an activity is about to start, etc.
What you should know:
Remember to dress for the weather and that it never hurts to have a water bottle on hand! Bring belongings that you can keep on you rather than rely on the NPF to have a locked area for your personal items!
Where to Meet:
Volunteers should meet at the Volunteer Tent near the corner of Independence Ave. and 15th Ave. SW
