Event Description:

The first Race For Hope raised more than $65,000, and broke the $1 million fundraising mark in 2005. In 2009, nearly 10,000 people, including American Idol David Cook, braved a very rainy day to support the brain tumor community. The record turnout and unprecedented media coverage helped the Race break the $2 million mark for the first time. In 2015, more than 11,500 runners, walkers, sponsors, and volunteers gathered at Freedom Plaza in celebration of survivors and loved ones and helped raised close to $2.5 million to find a cure for brain tumors. The Race is still organized by volunteers, and wouldn't be successful without the more than 200 volunteers needed on Race Day!

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers are needed for start and finish line, the Kids Fun Run, and to assist in clean up. This race is a really fun event and you will know you are a part of a very special day for all of those who are searching for a cure for brain tumors! Seeing the brain tumor survivors in their yellow shirts is so inspiring; please know that this race wouldn’t happen without the wonderful volunteers! Here is a short video video linkwe made about last year’s race. Volunteers are featured throughout the video.

What you should know:

Please dress for the weather; all volunteers receive a special volunteer t-shirt. Parking in DC is free on Sunday; early arriving volunteers will be able to park very close to Freedom Plaza. The location is also very close to Metro Center and Federal Triangle Metro stops. Water station and some course marshal volunteers will be able to drive cars onto the course and be stationed near their car. There is free street parking on Sundays, and it is walking distance from Metro Center and Federal Triangle Metro stops.

Where to Meet:

Volunteers check in at the volunteer registration tent located on Freedom Plaza, at Pennsylvania Avenue, NW and 14th Street. The tent will be clearly marked.
