Event Description:

Farrington Nature Linc’s mission is to enhance the well-being of children from low-income communities through a connection with the natural world. Our 75 acres of woodlands, fields and ponds near Boston are dedicated to providing respite and inspiration for children who might not otherwise have this opportunity. After a successful summer season with over 1,000 youth attending programs at Farrington Nature Linc, it is time to put the garden to bed for the winter.

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers will be doing basic gardening work, including, but not limiting to pulling out plants, pruning bushes, mulching, removing some garden hardware, mowing, etc. Garden gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have them.

Farrington Nature Linc:

Farrington Nature Lincs mission is to enhance the well-being of children from low-income communities through a connection with the natural world. Our 75 acres of woodlands, fields and ponds near Boston are dedicated to providing respite and inspiration for children who might not otherwise have this opportunity. Since 2002, Farrington has operated Nature Linc as a summer outdoor activity site and hosts visits by groups of children from Boston, Cambridge, and other neighboring urban communities for a day of exploration, learning, and fun. Young people are at once immersed in the natural world and provided the opportunity to reflect on their part in it. Visiting groups from summer camps and youth programs are able to explore the barn, trails, pond and woods, enjoy the open fields, garden, and farm animals that take up residence on-site during the summer months, and engage in arts activities that cement their new connection with nature.
