This group of talented One Brick volunteers meets monthly to knit and/or crochet scarves and hats for our local community, and would love to have you join them!

What we'll be doing:

Whether you love to knit (or crochet) or you'd like to learn -- this is the perfect event for you.For 2014 we will be donating to KAFPA:Kinship, Adoptive, and Foster Parent Association which will distribute the hats and scarves to their Foster and Adoption children. If you would like to make items for other charities, that's okay -- feel free to join us anyway!

What you should know:

This is a hybrid One Brick Social / Volunteering event. While we do have a few experienced people who love to teach others how to knit and/or crochet, there are no formal training classes. Please bring your own needles, hooks, yarn, etc. However, if you do not have any materials we will have a few extra crochet hooks and knitting needles and some yarn on hand to get you started. We always welcome donations of yarn or knitting/crocheting materials to the One Brick Knits group. For any questions, please contact darcyb at onebrick dot org

In 2011 we donated 160 hats/scarves to Sunnyvale Community Services.

In 2012 we donated 180 hats/scarves to Sacred Heart in San Jose.

In 2013 we donated 214 hats/scarves to Cityteam International in San Jose

KAFPA:

KAFPA: Kinship , Adoptive, and Foster Parent Association:

KAPFA Mission: Working together to provide resources and advocate for the needs of Foster & Adoptive Families in Santa Clara County.

About KAPFA:
As the largest foster, kinship, and adoptive parent association, we provide youth programming and family programming, serving over 300 foster, kinship, and adoptive parents and about 1600 foster, kinship, and adoptive and biological children. We also coordinate educational training opportunities on parenting and CRP and first Aid. In addition, we conduct policy advocacy on individual foster parent level, as a family or wherever needed through collective community engagement. Most services take place at our resource center and at our clothing closet storage area. Some do take place in other sites considering that we produce about 20 events throughout the year. We accomplish many partnerships to ensure we provide the best of services to this very significant and essential community in Santa Clara County.
