Event Description:
The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes provides hope, empowerment and a sense of community. Each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults – approximately 80 people per day – are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in the United States. We walk for them, and as many as 3 million Americans that have T1D.
What we'll be doing:
Volunteers will be involved in the food/drink setup and assisting along the walk route!
What you should know:
As parking is very limited, METRO transit is recommended.
Where to Meet:
One Brick will assemble at the volunteer table near the Registration area at 15th & Constitution (near Washington Monument).
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation:
JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of type 1 diabetes research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children and adults suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.
