Event Description:

Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House often spend their day at their child’s hospital bedside or in and out of countless appointments. Coming home to a hot meal after a long day at the hospital can bring a great deal of relief. One Brick will be covering the cost of the ingredients for these much-appreciated meals!

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers will be cooking lunch to be ready by 12:30PM and then clean up after themselves by 2PM! For the safety of the families, if you have any symptoms of illness, have recently been exposed to, or have a communicable disease, you should NOT visit the House or be involved in any food preparation. Some of the children are in isolation or have immune-suppressed bodies that cannot fight even the simplest cold.

What you should know:

The only requirement regarding clothing is that it is family-friendly. Also, since you will be preparing a meal, we prefer any long hair to be pulled back. The entrance of RMDH is located on the lower level, adjacent to the parking lot. You must enter the first set of glass doors and press the call button for a staff member or volunteer to open the second set of doors for you. Upon arriving, you must stop at the Welcome Desk and sign in. You will also have the option to sign a Photo Release Form so that RMDH may take pictures to use for development purposes.

In keeping with their mission to improve the lives of children, they have expanded programs to include the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, in association with Georgetown University Hospital, that provides free health care to thousands of kids each year, the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Childrens National Medical Center in Washington DC, and outreach programs that help children and young adults reach their full potential.
