Event Description:

SCRAP is an important resource to thousands of teachers, artists, nonprofits, parents and individuals in our community. SCRAPs materials have been used to help start home businesses, inspire artists, and inspire creativity by encouraging people to see reuse as part of the cycle of a product. SCRAP also donates school supplies to hundreds of teachers and educators.

What we'll be doing:

SCRAP's 5000 square foot warehouse of great reusable materials need volunteers to sort, package and design optimal displays of materials. Volunteers are needed to roll our fabric, reorganize aisles, and to help maintain the warehouse.

What you should know:

Please wear closed toed shoes and comfortable clothing. There is usually plenty of street parking near this location. The entrance is on Newcomb Street halfway between Toland and Selby, and you will recognize it by its brightly colored fence and wall.

Where to Meet:

Please meet just inside the entrance to SCRAP.

SCRAP:

SCRAP is the Bay Areas oldest creative reuse center, and has been diverting waste from landfills for use as art supplies for more than 30 years. SCRAP was founded in 1976 to provide art supplies to art teachers in the San Francisco Public School system. SCRAP rescues 200 tons of materials from businesses and individuals and provides them to artists, teachers, nonprofits, and the public for very low cost to inspire creativity.
