Event Description:

On the first Saturday of each month, the Greater Chicago Food Depository Mobile Food Pantry stops at Kelly Hall to provide food for area residents. Our Lady of Angels Mission, in partnership with the Chicago Metro YMCA, sets up this outdoor pantry and clothing give-away.

What we'll be doing:

Working alongside the members of the OLA Mission and volunteers from the community, One Brick volunteers will be setting up the outdoor pantry (yes, come rain or shine!) and organizing pantry items for distribution. An OLA staff member will say a quick prayer for the neighbors and volunteers. Then when the pantry is open to receive guests, One Brick volunteers will escort guests through the pantry to help pick up their items. One Brickers will also help carry items to cars.

This is a wonderful opportunity to directly help individuals. We also get the chance to see some of the items we pack at the Greater Chicago Food Depository get directly in the hands of our neighbors who need assistance.

What you should know:

Dress comfortably for the weather (the pantry happens come rain or shine!). Wear comfortable shoes for standing and walking, closed-toe recommended. Bring an extra water bottle.
