Event Description:
The Aquatennial is Minneapolis' official civic celebration. For 72 years, whether local or around the world, thousands of people come to enjoy the Best Days of Summer! The Sandcastle Competition is part of the Aquatennial Star Tribune Beach Bash at Lake Calhoun
What we'll be doing:
Volunteers stand on the beach and cheerfully tell the public, (lots of children), to stay off the sandcastles. Rope off the sandcastle area for judging. Some minor clean up after the event.
What you should know:
Check in at volunteer tent on site to receive free Aquatennial Volunteer T-shirt to wear while volunteering. Food and beverages provided. Hats and sunscreen recommended. The sand is hot! Sandals or shoes are recommended.Where to Meet:
Thomas Beach is located off of Xerxes Ave. South & West Lake Calhoun Parkway. Take Highway 100 to 50th Street exit; travel east to Xerxes Ave. Go North on Xerxes until it ends at the lake. Free parking is available on any surrounding residential street. No mass transit available to site.
First go to Beach Bash Volunteer Tent, sign waiver, receive shirt & food and two party invitations, then we will walk as a group and head to Sandcastle competiton site a short walk away.
