Family Connections is a tuition free parent participation preschool for low-income families in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. In our innovative program, parents participate in preschool classes with their children, ages newborn to five years. Children experience an array of educational opportunities that prepare them for success in kindergarten and beyond. Parents attend weekly parenting seminars, covering a range of topics, with an emphasis on positive discipline.
Family Connections is all about helping underserved children thrive by helping the whole family thrive. That means personalized, comprehensive family support services paired with high quality education programs for both children AND their parents (including parent participation preschools, ongoing K-5 coaching and tutoring, and parent education) – all for free! The results are lasting, generational change as children are academically, socially and emotionally ready to learn and parents are more confident as role models and advocates for their children.
While much has changed since our modest beginnings 25 years ago, there is one thing you can consistently count on Family Connections for: building connections! Parents and caregivers connect with each other at activities like support groups and parent education nights which helps to foster deeper relationships and a sense of belonging. Parents and children connect in the classroom allowing parents to embrace their role as their child’s first teacher. Families are connected with economic, health and educations partner programs that they would otherwise not have access to. Families connect with each other to build powerful support systems and stronger communities.
Our Mission
To create the highest quality family learning community so underserved children and parents become the drivers of their own success.
