Event Description:

Please note that this is not an official One Brick volunteer event but it appears on our calendar as a community courtesy.  The organizers had asked for our help but not in the timeframe necessary to post an official event.

About the event:

One afternoon. One block. A whole lot of culture—live performances, art, food, music, dancing & family-friendly fun on Ocean Ave. Culture on Ocean is taking over Granada Avenue for an afternoon of music, dance, art, food, and neighborhood fun!

Join us on Saturday, September 19 from 12–2 PM on Granada Avenue between Ocean and Holloway for a free, family-friendly arts and culture block party celebrating the people, traditions, artists, businesses, and creative energy that make Ocean Avenue special.

Expect an afternoon packed with performances and activities, including lion dancing, South Indian dance, Hawaiian dance, live music and hip-hop, local artists, mah jong instruction & open play, hands-on activities, food, treats, and more.

• Volunteer Shifts: 10am to 12pm, 12pm to 2pm, 2pm to 4pm

• Event Location: Granada Avenue, between Ocean Avenue and Holloway Avenue

What we'll be doing:

Volunteer responsibilities may include:

• Event set-up
• Greeters
• Assisting at an Information Booth
• Event tear down

Volunteer roles will depend on your individual time availability.

Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended.

Ocean Avenue Community Benefit District:

The Ocean Avenue Community Benefit District was established in December 2010 to support the vitality of the Ocean Avenue corridor. In 2025, the district was successfully renewed and expanded to include the Lakeside Village commercial corridor from 19th Avenue to Junipero Serra Boulevard.

The nonprofit Ocean Avenue Association manages the district, focusing on cleaning and maintenance, safety, marketing, and streetscape improvements that help strengthen the neighborhood and support local businesses.

The Ocean Avenue Association (OAA) is a nonprofit dedicated to making Ocean Avenue a thriving place to live, work, shop, and gather. Through community events, business support, beautification projects, grants, and partnerships, we're working to build a cleaner, more welcoming, and more connected neighborhood for everyone.
