Event Description:

Be part of a meaningful day celebrating ScholarMatch graduates!

Volunteers will help bring the event to life as students, families, and supporters gather to honor this exciting milestone.

What we'll be doing:

Registration and Welcome Team (1-2 Volunteers)

• Help create a warm and welcoming celebratory first impression for our graduates, families, and guests. Volunteers will welcome attendees as they arrive, assist with check-in, distribute name tags and materials, answer basic event questions, and help direct guests.

Food & Hospitality Team (3 Volunteers)

• Support the guest experience by helping prepare and maintain the food and refreshment area. Volunteers will assist with setting up the food tables, replenishing items as needed, keeping the area organized throughout the event, and supporting cleanup.

All Volunteers

• All volunteers will help bring the celebration to life by assisting with event setup and clean up, including arranging tables, setting up decorations, preparing materials, and ensuring the space feels welcoming for our graduates and loved ones.

What you should know:

Volunteer attire for this event is dark business casual or all black.  Please no t-shirts or jeans.

Our Mission:

ScholarMatch’s mission is to support underserved first-generation college students from low-income backgrounds to earn a bachelor’s degree within five years. We provide virtual individualized advising, targeted financial support, and career mentoring all the way to graduation.

Our Story:

Founded in 2010 by author Dave Eggers, ScholarMatch began as a San Francisco-based crowdfunding platform for scholarships and has since evolved into a full-service college access and persistence organization, delivering hands-on support for first-generation college students. In 2015, we launched the ScholarMatcher, a groundbreaking college list-building tool optimized for the needs of first-generation college students from low-income backgrounds, and began to offer virtual college advising services to high school students outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2016, we expanded our college services to serve students in Los Angeles and launched our first virtual advising program for college students.

Today, ScholarMatch is a nimble organization that engages 500+ volunteers per year to serve over 1,000 students nationwide at every point of the college journey.
