The Bay Bridge Half Marathon returns on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Here's their story:

In 2002, we founded the US Half Marathon across the Golden Gate Bridge in partnership with the 2012 bid to bring the Olympic Games to San Francisco. The same team, now based in Oakland, worked with nearly a dozen entities over 11 months to make this dream, running the first half marathon across the Bay Bridge, a reality.  Now it's a popular annual event!

Ever since the renovation of the new Bay Bridge, we’ve had our sights set on a different type of event - one that bucks the status quo and features not only a one-of-a-kind round trip across our famed bridge, but a local, immersive experience with top chefs, merchandise, entertainment and so much more.

It’s going to be an incredible celebration!

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers alongside staff of the host Mascot Sports will help set-up and distribute race bibs & participant packets.

What you should know:

Volunteers will receive snacks, drinks, and a volunteer t-shirt.

Where to Meet:

At the Community Room inside the Sports Basement in Berkeley.

Running For A Better Oakland:

RBO's Mission

Running for a Better Oakland (RBO) is a non-profit organization that encourages K-12th grade Oakland students to develop healthy lifestyles through running. By providing training and encouragement, RBO helps students build confidence and set goals, giving them tools for achievement and hard work they can draw on in all areas of their lives.

RBO's Vision

RBO strives to build a tolerant, healthy, and prosperous community. Through the discipline and rigor of a structured running program, RBO’s goal is to create new relationships, establish trust, build self-esteem, and empower students, parents, and volunteers.
