Event Description:

All Hands & Hearts is partnering with the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation (ELP) for their annual Christmas with the Currys Holiday Book Fairs, a district-wide effort bringing free books to more than 18,000 students across the Oakland Unified School District. Many of these students come from low-income households, and access to books at home continues to be a major barrier to early learning. Joining forces with Eat. Learn. Play. allows us to support students long before crisis hits and strengthen our presence here in California.

We will be helping out at the Currys Book Fair at Lincoln Elementary School near Oakland Chinatown.

There are 2 shifts to fill for this event, 8am to 12pm and 12pm to 4pm.  We've highlighted the 12pm shift above, but you may sign up for any available shift.  A link will be forwarded to you upon your RSVP.

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers will help students pick out books to take home, restock tables, and create a warm, joyful environment.

What you should know:

Because this event takes place on a school campus, all volunteers will need to complete the Eat. Learn. Play. waiver forms and a background check. Once you fill out our interest form, The Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation will follow up directly with the required documents and next steps.

Eat. Learn. Play. provides volunteer shirts, and All Hands & Hearts will have hats available for added spirit before or after your shift.
