WHAT: Dear Community is proud to announce our 4th annual gala: Luminous Snake Gala. This event is a celebration of our old and new supporters and most importantly - a way for us to say THANK YOU. This year we are highlighting the themes of the Luminous Snake to help celebrate another year together. Our goal is to uplift Asian pride and inspire new leaders through community building and activism. 

WHY: Our annual fundraising gala is our main source of receiving donations and will ensure that we are able to continue operating our current programs, grow our staff, compensate API creatives and businesses and support other fellow nonprofits in the space. We can’t wait to share our growing community and talk about future plans with you. Come meet the family as we make our mark in San Francisco. ♥️ 

We will be hosting our gala at a local restaurant to stay true to our goal of supporting small businesses - stay tuned for more details. And if you were at our gala last year you know what’s up. Bring your dancing shoes because we’ll be hopping on that dance floor all night long.

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers may be assigned to a number of tasks including:

• Helping with table set-up
• Selling scratchers and staffing the redemption table
• Live auction spotting
• Clean-up at event's end
• Other tasks as they come up during the program

What you should know:

The volunteer dress code for this is Dressy!  Please arrive as if you are a paying guest attending this fundraiser.  You will be photographed and may appear in local community publications and social media!

Volunteers will be able to take part in some of the program.  More details TBA.

Please wear comfortable shoes especially if you plan to stay to dance the night away at the end of the event.

OUR STORY

Dear Community is a group of activists that ignited in response to anti-Asian hate violence. We found each other in the midst of the pandemic through the shared passion of wanting to protect our community and elders. We are healing our community by curating safe space events that foster discourse while generating income for merchants fighting to survive. Our goal is to support Asian small business corridors that have disproportionately suffered from COVID-19 and racism. We are calling to attention the Asian American experience and we work to engage and inspire the community to join the movement.
