Event Description:

The Night of Smiles Gala is the biggest fundraiser of the year for local non-profit Alliance for Smiles, an organization whose mission is to forever improve and transform the lives of children and communities impacted by cleft lip and palate by providing free comprehensive treatment, while training and equipping local teams to sustainably provide quality, long-term care.

Each year dignitaries, donors, volunteers, family and friends from around the world attend our gala to recognize volunteers & supporters who have gone above & beyond in transforming the lives of children and communities impacted by cleft conditions.

This will be the 21st anniversary event and the fourth one held live since 2019.

About the 2025 Alliance for Smiles Gala:

Alliance for Smiles is turning 21, and we are delighted to invite you to our spectacular speakeasy-themed Night of Smiles gala from 5:00-10pm on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at Hotel Nikko in downtown San Francisco! 

This prohibition-era themed event will give us an opportunity to recognize just a few of the supporters who make our life-changing work possible, and help raise funds to change more children’s lives. 

There will be silent and live auction items, fantastic raffle prizes, photo booths, decadent food & drink, a fantastic DJ & dancing, and so much more.

What we'll be doing:

IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT sign up unless you can complete an entire shift.  No exceptions.

Here is the list of tasks that the volunteers will help with:

• Setting up the venue (decorations, placecards, step and repeats, silent auction displays) 
• Helping guests with the silent auction and raffle (helping guests place bids, answering questions, encouraging guests to bid) 
• Greeting guests (giving directions, letting guests know about free appetizers and drinks, giving other info) 
• Selling raffle tickets (walking around the venue with a laminated list of prizes, selling tickets via Square app and collecting payments – Alliance for Smiles will provide their Square account login) 
• Assisting the raffle ticket sellers (recording ticket purchases, handing out tickets and light-up jelly rings) 
• Registration (checking in guests, handing out table seat cards and name badges) 
• Coat check (storing guests’ coats and personal belongings)

Please be flexible with your assignment(s). 

What you should know:

There are no COVID protocols at this time.

Business casual, or formal, gala appropriate attire. Our gala this year is speakeasy/prohibition themed; volunteers are welcome to dress up in this theme.

If any volunteers have an iPhone please download the Square app and please bring their headphone adapter so that they can use the Square device to take credit card payments. If you have an Android device please download the Square app. We will provide the Square devices.

Volunteers will be provided with dinner.
