Event Description:

Almaden Parents’ Pre-School is a self-supporting non-profit parent participation preschool with capacity to teach approximately 70 children from 18 months through Pre-Kindergarten age.  APPS has served families and the broader San Jose community for more than 50 years.  We are proud to offer children an environment in which to play, learn, and develop social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills at their own individual pace.

Formerly known as Santa Saturday, the Winter Wonderland event has been the school's primary fundraiser for over a decade.  It is a beloved annual tradition - an opportunity for us to gather and celebrate the holidays as a community while also financially safeguarding the school's ability to continue its work for years to come.

What we'll be doing:

One Brick volunteers will be helping to set-up and run the Winter Wonderland annual fundraiser and holiday fair and to help pack up afterwards.  Volunteers will manage event stations such as photos with Santa, a holiday store where children can buy and wrap presents for their family members, a craft station, concessions, and a silent auction.  Funds raised from the event will go toward our school scholarship program, which allows us to sponsor families in need. Additionally, funds raised will go toward school improvements and supplies, aiding in the growth and development of our students and their families as the school continues to recover financially from the COVID-19 pandemic.  

 

What you should know:

Park in the church parking lot.  Parking is limited, so please carpool if possible.  Wear comfortable, family-appropriate clothing - holiday cheer is welcome but not required.  Lunch will be provided to volunteers.

 

Where to Meet:

Meet at 10:00 am outside the fenced playground at the far end of the parking lot. 

 

Almaden Parents Preschool:

Almaden Parents' Pre-school was founded in 1969 by a group of parents in south San Jose who wanted to participate in their children's early childhood education. They formulated a philosophy that was based on sequential development. The parents wanted to be there with the teachers to witness the discoveries and learning that would take place. Together, parents and teachers would create an environment that would be happy, safe, and secure so that the children could grow physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. The school opened in September 1969 at its present location with 72 member families. APPS continues to develop the whole child through the dedication of its teachers and the active participation of parents.
