Event Description:
Join us to help pack food for families in need around the South Bay. Volunteers are an integral part of Second Harvest's ability to provide food to kids, families and seniors struggling with hunger in our community. Last year, volunteers contributed more than 222,000 hours of service, the equivalent of 107 full-time employees.
Volunteers must confirm their spot and sign the Second Harvest Waiver here: https://shfb.tfaforms.net/201?tfa_863=GR-21730
If asked for the reservation ID it is GR-21730
What we'll be doing:
The primary responsibility of a Food Sort Volunteer is to prepare food for distribution by verifying, sorting, labeling, and repacking food items at our distribution center Cypress Center in North San Jose. Training is provided at the beginning of each shift. Sorting opportunities run two to three hours.
What you should know:
All food sort volunteers must be fully vaccinated to enter the Second Harvest facility on or after 12/10/2021.
If you are not on record as being fully vaccinated, you should receive an email from Second Harvest asking you to declare your status.
Please bring and wear a face mask. Please wear comfortable closed-toed shoes - most if not all of the shift will be on your feet! Long pants are highly recommended but not required. Sleeveless shirts and sandals are not permitted.
Dress in layers as it can get cold in the warehouse. Bring a water bottle. Snacks often provided after the shift.
Where to Meet:
Meet in the lobby. Volunteers at Cypress should park in the parking lot in front of the building. PLEASE do not park by Ciena's building. You can be subject to towing at your own expense.
There is additional overflow parking BEHIND the Momentus / Continental building. Please look for the staff parking sign.
