Event Description:
Kapwa Gardens is a new outdoor space in the SOMA. The space has been designed to help the neighborhood recover from the devastating mental, physical and economic effects of COVID-19.
Kapwa Gardens is seeking volunteers to help out with this special event setup, staffing and/or breakdown. You MUST register and schedule yourself through their website at https://kapwagardens.as.me/schedule.php (Please click on the Special Events Volunteer link for July 11th and either the 12:00pm guest check-in shift or the 3:00pm breakdown shift). Shifts are 4 hours each and limited to 4 volunteers per shift. You are welcome to sign up for multiple shifts as long as space is available on the scheduling website or app.
Volunteers are welcome to stay for the festival which will be a celebration of all things related to Ube (purple yam). The actual festival hours will be 12:00pm to 5pm.
DO NOT just sign up through the One Brick website and assume that you have registered. You MUST register through the Kapwa Gardens scheduling link (provided above) in order to access entry.

Kapwa Gardens:
Kapwa Gardens (www.kapwagardens.com) is a healing space in SOMA Pilipinas. As a Kultivate Labs* project, the space functions with the goal to enrich San Francisco's cultural diversity by building community and supporting the arts & local businesses. Kapwa Gardens is designed and named after the Filipino spiritual idea of "Kapwa"—a recognition of a shared identity, an inner self, shared with others.
The gardens feature custom living walls, a citrus grove of calamansi trees, hand-crafted wood planters, and beautiful murals painted by local Bay Area artists. Kapwa Gardens also has a flexible outdoor event space with the capability to host workout classes, live performances, special events, and more!
*Kultivate Labs (kultivatelabs.com) is a non-profit economic development and arts organization
