Event Description:
Due to COVID-19 One Brick are unable organize group events at this time. However, in case you were wanting to help volunteer in the community with friendly faces - join other volunteers at Ravenswood Community Market Pantry every second Saturday.
The Market Pantry represents a partnership between the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD), Ravenswood Community Services (RCS) and Ravenswood School to bring a nutritious mix of groceries to neighborhood families in need of food assistance. In a farmers market-like atmosphere, volunteers distribute fresh produce, meat, dairy items and shelf-stable food the second Saturday of every month with rain, shine or freezing temps!
What we'll be doing:
Volunteers will be setting up the outdoor pantry and interacting with neighbors as they arrive and move through the pantry.
This is a wonderful opportunity to directly help individuals. We also get the chance to see some of the items we pack at the Greater Chicago Food Depository get directly in the hands of our neighbors who need assistance.
What you should know:
Dress comfortably for the weather (the pantry happens come rain or shine!). Wear comfortable shoes for standing and walking, closed-toe recommended. Bring an extra water bottle.
Where to Meet:
The pantry is staged in the parking lot of Ravenswood Elementary School, just south of Montrose on Paulina.
