Event Description:

Due to COVID-19 One Brick cannot organise group events.  However, in case you were wanting to help volunteer in the community with a friendly face - join me at Second Harvest's Yerba Buena Food Drive.  Note you MUST RSVP DIRECTLY WITH SECOND HARVEST HERE https://www.shfb.org/give-help/volunteer/volcalendar-general/! Spots fill up fast, but there's often last minute drop outs so check in 1-2 days prior if the event is full on Second Harvest calendar when you read this.

What we'll be doing:

Food distribution is a hands-on volunteer activity. Activities could include assisting with room set up, unloading and moving food from pallets to the distribution center; sorting and distributing food; and clean up. Assisting with parking and traffic control.

This is a great chance for volunteers to interface with our clients. This volunteer activity does require some heavy lifting (a minimum of 25lbs.) and regular movement.

What you should know:

Please wear a mask, long pants and bring a sunhat/water bottle.

Water is provided. Gloves and sanitizer provided.

Bring your own mask, wear long pants, and closed toe shoes.  No flip-flops, shorts or capris allowed.

Second Harvest Food Bank - San Jose:

Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is one of the largest food banks in the United States that was established in 1974. Second Harvest is a private nonprofit organization that collects and distributes more than one million pounds of food each week to low-income indivduals and families from Daly City to Gilroy. The food bank currently serves more than 250,000 individuals each month; more than half of which are seniors and children.
