Event Description:
The following event is in support of lung cancer prevention and music/creative arts grants to cancer survivors. On November 2nd, One Brick will provide volunteers for teh pre-NYC marathon brunch and fundraiser in support of the Gwen Mann Foundation. While volunteering, you can see the following speakers:
The name sake of the organization, Gwen Mann, passed away last year to a rare form of lung cancer that affects non-smokers. It moved very quickly with limited treatment options. In her memory, her husband Yasir Salem started a foundation. He’s been running 50 marathons in 50 states this year to raise awareness for the cause.

The brunch event in NYC November 2nd marks his 50th race and challenge completion. It's a daytime brunch with music and GREAT speakers.
One Brick will be there to support him and the cause!

To honor Gweneviere, The Gweneviere Mann Foundation continues her legacy by helping more people get scanned for brain tumor and lung cancer early so that they can thrive in life like she did.
Gweneviere was a true star born to the earth who captivated everyone she met with her beautiful voice, contagious laughter, contemplative wisdom and generous loving heart.
In 2008, Gwen was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumor. With the loving care of her husband, Yasir, she was able to overcome it in time and thrive. She became an accomplished writer, marathon runner and continued to blossom as a singer as chronicled by StoryCorps, PBS, NPR and more.
10 years later, on July 22, 2018, a rare form of lung cancer (exon 20) that would take her life. 77% of people with this type of lung cancer are non-smokers.
