Event Description:

More than 350,000 students have learned the skills of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and problem solving through Art in Action's powerful visual arts curriculum since its inception over 35 years ago. Ten thousand teachers and parent volunteers have experienced the joys and rigors of arts education with their students creating a culture of art in their community. Today Art in Action is providing art lessons to over 70,000 children in 500 schools and organizations nationwide.

Art In Action provides:

  • K-8 visual arts curriculum designed around historically significant works of art
  • Training and online resources for teachers and parent volunteers
  • Art materials needed to teach the program
  • Coordination of community art shows featuring student artwork

Through this program, and the use of these programs, students will learn about the art of the great masters, how to look at art, and how to create their own unique masterpieces.

What we'll be doing:

Working together in teams, volunteers fill program packets with the correct amounts of lesson-specific sets of art supplies such as paper, templates, pencils, yarn, raffia, beads, ink, paints, brushes, pastels, glue, and more.

What you should know:

If the parking lot in front of the building is full, there is some extra parking behind the building. The entrance for the back is still on Bohannon Drive but is located around the corner from the front.

Don't forget to bring some cash. Join us for an after event social as Los Gallos (cash only) across the street from Marsh Road on Florence Street.
