Event Description:
Help A Wider Circle organize and deliver basic needs items to individuals and families by volunteering at their warehouse in Silver Spring, MD.
What we'll be doing:
We will be helping out in the warehouse which involves: cleaning and organizing certain areas in the storage facility, sorting donations of furniture and household goods, and helping families select and load furniture onto trucks to take to their homes.

Where to Meet:
Volunteers can meet at the A Wider Circle Center for Community Service which is located at 9159 Brookville Road Silver Spring MD. The Volunteer Center is clearly marked at the facility. Members of A Wider Circle's staff are also always in the parking lot directing clients, donors, and volunteers on where to go. When you arrive, you will go through an orientation, take a brief tour of the facility, split up into groups that focus on different tasks and get started!
A Wider Circle:
A Wider Circle is a 501(c)(3) grassroots nonprofit organization that provides holistic support to families in need. What this means is that we furnish the homes of children and adults who are transitioning out of domestic violence or homeless shelters, or who are simply living without what most of us take for granted – beds, dressers, sheets, towels, and other basic need items. We offer educational programs on topics ranging from job skills and money management to stress management and other life skills. We also provide wrap-around support to those seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce, including professional attire, education, and one-on-one support. We work with the most vulnerable among us, and we do whatever we can do to help them move toward stability and independence.
Volunteers assist with our Neighbor-to-Neighbor program by sorting through donations to ensure that we are only redistributing items that are in what we call dignity condition (free of damages), keeping our showrooms stocked, and assisting clients as they are selecting items to take home.
