One of the top volunteer projects

The One Brick New Orleans trip was one of the top volunteer projects I ever got the chance to be part of. In short, the volunteers help build some of the houses that were affected by Hurricane Katrina. It is absolutely surprising that even after 11 years, there are still areas in New Orleans affected by that catastrophe. When we arrived at the house that we worked on, the volunteers received tasks that they would perform throughout the week. Some people were painting the house; some were putting in tile and grouting it; and some were doing other essential tasks for the house. Since all 3 houses that all the volunteers worked on were next to each other, we were able to see the progress everyone was making at their house, while taking dance breaks. We also spoke to some locals during orientation and got to visit the levies that broke near the 9th ward, so we got to learn a lot of what happened during the hurricane. Lastly, we were able to visit the French Quarter on multiple occasions and got to see the city during Halloween, which was a really good time. I can't wait to go back there, and I would absolutely encourage everyone to go through this experience once. You definitely won't regret it!!!
