Event Description:

CHCP is very excited to celebrate their 25th anniversary of the 1991 opening of the Chinese American Historical Museum !

The Museum is housed in the replica Ng Shing Gung building, which is part of History Park, located in Kelley Park, San Jose.The Chinese American Historical Museum will be premiering its new touch flat-screen timeline.This celebration will also include an opening ceremony, food, drinks, continuous entertainment on the Lillian Gong-Guy Plaza stage, children’s craft activities, author’s presentation, a parade, raffle and door prizes, and more !

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers will work one or more of the following

1.    children's area (art activities; games; Chinese costumes photo opportunity)

2.    grounds (monitoring litter and so forth; take down)

3.    gate areas (checking passes, distributing programs, giving directions)

4.    author event (seating, hospitality)

5.    entertainment ("security" in "green room" for entertainers, stage assistance)

6.    information and or raffle booths help

7.    food area (serving, cleaning, helping as needed)

What you should know:

The event opens at 11AM and admission is free.

•   Street parking and spaces in a pay parking on Phelan Road will be available.

•   Directions: From Fwy 280 or Fwy 680 south, take S. 10th Street south; turn left on Keyes St./Story Rd.; turn right on Senter Road; turn left on Phelan Ave.

Where to Meet:

•   Volunteer and information tent adjacent to Chinese American Historical Museum (Ng Shing Gung, Chinese Temple) in San Jose’s History Park, 635 Phelan Ave. (near  Senter Road).

Founded in 1987, the Chinese Historical and Cultural Project (CHCP) is a nonprofit based in Santa Clara County, California.  We promote and preserve Chinese American and Chinese history and culture through community outreach activities.  We share our stories, our history, and our culture with the people of Silicon Valley and beyond.
