Event Description:

We're excited to bring the 3rd som|dog 5K to Union Square in Somerville, honoring Tom Taylor, former Somerville Alderman and avid SomDog Supporter. som|dog's Tom Taylor Memorial Doggie 5k and Fun Run is a community event for you and your pup! It's a chance to support our local dogs and raise funds in support of off-leash recreation. The race will take you on an exciting course in and out of Somerville’s Union Square. Support somdog by helping at this fun outdoor event with a post-party in Bull McCabe’s parking lot featuring a beer garden!

 

 

What we'll be doing:

The volunteers should arrive at 8:00AM and will receive an event t-shirt upon checking-in. Volunteers will be doing a variety of activities including:

·         vendor set-up
 
·         putting up posters or handing out flyers in the area
 
·         setting up the water station on the course

What you should know:

Please note this is an outdoor activity so please dress accordingly. Also, there will be dogs at this event- so please be dog friendly. 

Note: This event is wheelchair accessible.

Volunteers are asked to meet at 8am at Volunteers should meet at the som|dog table located in Bull McCabe’s (parking lot).

Take the 86, 87, or 91 bus to Somerville Ave @ Carlton Street

There is Free parking at the Citizens bank in Union Square.  No parking available at Bull McCabes.

 

som|dog:

Som|dog is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting all aspects of responsible dog ownership throughout the city of Somerville and beyond. From education to training, civic respect and safety, som|dog works to partner with the city as well as like-minded canine organizations and businesses to create a strong community of dog owners. Som|dogs goal is to serve as a resource for the community, be a liaison for the city and ensure off-leash recreation and open space for all. Since the organizations inception in 2004, som|dog was instrumental in bringing three dog parks to the city and advocating for off-leash recreation at surrounding DCR trails. The group also initiated Somervilles No Pile Left Behind Act promoting civic responsibility and garnered supportive membership base. Som|dog was built as a grassroots effort to create positive change for Somervilles residents and canine companions.
