Event Description:

The San Francisco Food Bank is a One Brick San Francisco signature event. We bring tremendous good to the community through all of the hard work done here. Help us help the Food Bank feed the hungry.

We will be sorting, inspecting and repackaging thousands of pounds of food in this short two-hour shift! You will be able to immediately see how much your work is benefiting the SF community.

Be sure to bring some money and join us after the event for food and more socializing!

EVENING & WEEKEND VOLUNTEERS
It's OK to park along the fence where the signs say "No Parking." The food bank doesn't receive deliveries during the evening. Please enter through the REAR door on the south side of the building.

WEEKDAY VOLUNTEERS
Street parking is free, and our block has a 4-hour time limit-- perfect for our volunteer shifts! Please utilize available street parking first so that our agency shoppers can use our parking lot to load their vehicles. If street parking is full, please pull into our lot to check for spaces. please report to our reception area at the northeast corner of the building (if facing the Food Bank from the street, it's the area closest to you on the right side) to sign in.

ATTIRE
- Closed-toe shoes are required at all volunteer projects. Anyone wearing sandals, flip-flops, or any other shoe with an open toe will not be able to participate in the project.
- Because you'll be helping to repack food, please wear casual and clean clothing, long pants, securely fastened jewelry, and comfortable (no open-toe) shoes.
- We suggest dressing in layers, as the temperature in the warehouse is often cold.

***PARKING ALERT***
Please be advised that 23rd Street (between Pennsylvania and Indiana) is closed to vehicles and pedestrians from May 4, 2015 through early 2016. This may affect driving/walking directions and parking. Please add a few minutes to your plan to account for the temporary changes

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank:

The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank's mission is to end hunger in San Francisco. It works toward that goal by distributing food and advocating for improvement in government food programs and policies.

A nationwide network of food suppliers allows the food bank to turn each dollar donated into $9 of nonperishable groceries, fresh produce, bread and meat for the community.

An affiliate of Feeding America (formerly America's Second Harvest) - the nation's food bank network - the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank supplies food to more than 600 community food programs ranging from senior centers and after-school programs to soup kitchens. The food bank reaches tens of thousands of individuals each month. This year, the food bank will distribute 33 million pounds of food, which is enough to provide more than 70,000 meals to hungry San Franciscans every day.
